Description
The National Museum of African-American History and Culture (NMAAHC) opened on September 24, 2016 in a ceremony led by President Barack Obama, with former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton present. NMAAHC is a Smithsonian Institution museum that tells the African-American experience -- its history and culture -- beginning in the early days of slavery to modern-day America. It is located near the Washington Monument on a corner of the national mall at 15th Street and Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC.
This is one of the four corners of the building, photographed to show the jagged architecture of the corners, and also highlight the intricate lattice that surrounds the building, and show how depending upon the position of the sun, the lattice can be a brilliant gold. (This side of the building faces west, and the sun was begin to set -- in the western sky, of course.)
