Description
Sunsets in Hilo are not common, as it faces east and meets the rising sun. On occasion, as the sun sets over Mauna Kea, and there is cloud cover above Hilo, the light and colors from the setting sun permeate the sky and paint the clouds in color. On this evening, a beautiful, ethereal pink and lavender light flooded the sky and reflected off the swell of the sea rolling to the shore. In this long exposure, the waves roll to the sand in lacy patterns and the clouds and ocean have a soft pink and lavender glow with a large lava rock parting the waves.
