There is a long story behind this painting. I started it a year or so ago. I have always loved the Aspens along Highway 69 by Boulder, Montana. They started fixing the highway and were tearing down these trees. I was afraid they were all going to go. I have always had images in my mind of the tree line along the road and I love that area. Having lived and worked in Boulder, I grew fond of the beautiful country around the area. The background sat for months, maybe years….For some reasons I just couldn’t get the painting done. This year I am trying to finish the many backgrounds I have started over the years. Determined to get this one done…. I found myself totally changing what my original intentions were. It goes along with this year’s theme…. Spontaneous painting. I am trying not to overthink and go with what wants to come out. As I put the horses in there, I realized they needed something else to make them stand out so I just painted them like Paints.
