The Early Bird
Artist
Sue Bonnar
Medium
Drawing - Pen And Ink, Watercolor Pencil
Description
This work is a my version of an endangered Whooping Crane (or "Whoopers" as we here in South Texas call them) who is one of the first birds to make it all the way down to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. The Lotus flowers in the background normally stop blooming by the end of summer so this has to be a bird to made it here just in time to see the lilies blooming is so excited to see them he just has to "strut"!
These magnificent birds are only here a short time and people come from around the world to see these rare birds. I am lucky enough to see them fly over my house and see them in the marsh near my house. They are huge birds and you can't mistake them for anything else once you've seen them.
The original is 12"x12" and is watercolor pencil with pen and ink on 140 lb. watercolor bond.
