I am always intrigued by the dune fences. In Ohio, we call them snow fences...as they do much the same job. One the beach, they are weathered and worn by the wind and the salt air, and cast the most amazing shadows. This painting had a heavy underpainting of an array of colors, much of which is covered by the white sand, but enough shows through to give the sand some body and color. The sand on the Gulf Coast in Pensacola, FL is a brilliant white (much like snow!)
