The African leopard is the leopard nominate subspecies native to many countries in Africa.
It is widely distributed in most of sub-Saharan Africa, but the historical range has been fragmented in
the course of habitat conversion.
Shambala Preserve is an animal sanctuary established in 1972 and located in Acton, California, a desert community 10 miles southwest of Palmdale, off of California State Route 14 and 40 miles north of Los Angeles.
Shambala is a Sanskrit word that means:
“A Meeting Place of Peace and Harmony for all Beings,
Animal and Human.”
