Description
This musical instrument still life painting depicts a shiny violin, bow and metronome perched on top of music books and table runner on a piano bench. I used many photo references of each individual item to compose this image. The sunlight and shadows are based on my experience, observations and imagination.
Strings refers to the piano, violin and bow as well as to the thick fringed edges of the woven table runner and the dangling ribbon bookmark. All the colors of the painting are unified by the blends of color in the table runner.
This is a close up of a section of my watercolor painting called VIRGINIA WALTZ (also in this gallery), commissioned by my client in Virginia. The original music instrument painting was commissioned and sold many years ago; however, I thought this section would make a nice canvas print or art print composition by itself.
