Description
A man and his shadow, and the glint of sun and a jaunty hat walking up the steps to the Metropolitan Museum.
I have been asked many times how this shot was done, so here goes: I was sitting on the steps of the Met facing 5th ave, when I noticed the way the light was striking people as they walked up the steps, and how dark the background was. I was not thinking about their shadows. Film. circa 1993.
I dont have much space in my little studio to hang pictures, but Ive had a small 5 x 7 of this on my wall for many years. It works well at a small size. I used to experiment, trying to see how small a print could be and still carry an emotional punch. This shot always worked for me as a small print.

Thanks Marlene -- enjoying your work as well. I don't photograph birds very often, so I'm not sure how popular I can be here - but am finding people like yourself doing original work. That is a pleasure. I started a Facebook group called FAA it Forward - will put one of your images there. It's to promote other FAA artists (i.e. not ourselves).
