No, I didn't really camp in this spot but I really enjoy using my tent as a prop for some great nightscape images. In this case, I put it right on the edge of the canyon at the Grand View Overlook in Canyonlands National Park.
How I Got The Shot
This image started with a little nerve to place the tent so close to the edge. And then after weighing it down with a few rocks, I provided some gentle illumination with a single tea light inside the tent. To capture a balanced exposure, I shot two images in sequence with different settings - one for the stars and another longer exposure to capture the details in the canyon below.
