On our travels over the roads of the south Tyrol, in northern Italy, we passed through the small village of Soraga which is probably one of the oldest settlements all over Val di Fassa. Meandering as I often do we saw a sign that indicated a flower sanctuary and turned off our planned route. There seemed to be many hiking paths and a small log hotel off the road, but the crown jewels of the road were the wildflowers. The bad weather and fog was moving in as we arrived, making the wildflowers take center stage as I photographed.

Soraga di Fassa, is a comune in Trentino in the northern Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northeast of Trento. Soraga borders the following municipalities: Sèn Jan di Fassa, Falcade and Moena. In the census of 2001 85% spoke Ladin as their main language.

This area is just a few miles from the mountains around Moena and the Avisio river and is part of the. Dolomiti Superski circuit in winter. This area is close to the 2026 Olympic locations.
