Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
This is my second painting utilizing the newly reformulated Sennelier watercolor paints and I really like them. They are more vibrant than any watercolor paints I have used today. They are very creamy felling under the brush and seem to glaze as well or better than most brands I have used. I used a mix of Opera Rose and Ultramarine blue to paint the flowers and a combination of phthalo green light and forest green for the other foliage. Since I was in an experimental mood, I also decided to add some dew drops to the flowers. This is the first time I have ever tried to paint dew or water droplets and it was a complete afterthought. I can't decide if I overdid them or not but they are permanently there now! The original painting is created with Sennelier watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper and is 9.75"x13.75" in size. Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Chrisann! This is my first attempt at the water droplets. I can see where it would be easy to go overboard with them since they are so fun to render! LOL

Sooo beautiful, Ken! Good job on the water droplets! They are so much fun that I tended to go overboard with them on Mary's Pansies. Beautiful work!
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Bette! I had to stop myself before I went too crazy with the water droplets. They sure are fun!

I think this is your best one ever! The color is spectacular and the water droplets add so much reality and life to the piece. I've never tried droplets....are they difficult?
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Marsha! This paint is so vibrant and rich that it really brought this piece to life. I actually dulled some of the areas that were too vibrant. The dew drops were very easy. The hard part was knowing the painting was totally done and risking an additional element that I had never tried and could ruin the painting! LOL
