Painted version. San Cosme and San Damian patrons of Catholic medicine. They exercised medicine for free to all who needed it.
These saints were twin brothers and martyrs at the hands of the Roman Empire.
First they tied two crosses to them and stoned them, but they survived, then they burned them alive and they survived again, finally the Romans decided to behead them.
In executions, the accused was almost always stripped of his clothes to humiliate him before the public.
