Description
In this unique cloudscape and waterscape, the mountains and waters of Canada’s Inside Passage showcase the sky at twilight. Wispy cirrus clouds shaped like sailboats glide through the heavenly skies, alongside our cruise-ship. Stratus clouds, the straight ones, underscore the magnificence of it all and lend interesting leading lines. I had never seen a sky like this. Neither had any of the passengers near us. Sailboats . . . in the sky!
At this time of day, the mountains are in silhouette. Colors like this particular shade of blue actually happen here. Sometimes they are simply waiting to be rescued from the darkness. If you’ve never seen white sailboats in the sky, consider having them to enjoy every day—and sharing them with your friends. These are real. Nothing was added. Nothing taken away.
Captured from our cruise ship during a day at sea as we traveled south from Ketchikan, Alaska, to Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
