Description
One can almost hear the squeals of children going down this Ruby School slide.
Ruby, Arizona was a highly productive mining community in southern Arizona, about four miles from the Mexican border. The mine yielded about ten million dollars in 1920's to 1930's dollars from lead, gold, silver, and tungsten. When the mine closed, miners left with most of the houses that were not adobe. A few remaining buildings, such as this adobe schoolhouse, are being restored. This school, open until 1951, served 150 students in grades one through eight.

Wow! Haven't seen one of these for decades. It's amazing with all the safeguards deemed necessary these days that anyone from my generation survived our childhoods. Thanks for the nostalgia, Priscilla!
