There is no better way to celebrate Earth Day than to go for a walk in nature with a camera in hand. I was hoping to maybe spot a butterfly, or an egret in the pond, or maybe something rare and unique. . . . but today, the Creator gave me the beauty of common regular everyday life. A sweet brave mommy American Robin who would not leave her nest no matter how close I got. She stared at me and seemed to puff her 'Robin Redbreast' out at me. I clicked quickly so as to not cause her any more alarm and then hurried off. I think I got a nice portrait of her with a cool background. I hope her children grow strong and healthy - from one mom to another! ♥

The American robin lives in open woodlands, fields, gardens and yards and is seen in Ohio year round, although they are considered a very first sign that spring is coming by many! The American robin is 8-11 inches in length and has a wingspan of 12-16 inches. The male American robin has dark gray or brown back and wing feathers and reddish-orange chest feathers. The females have the same color pattern, but she is a little duller in color.
