Description
One vehicle travels the two-lane highway ahead of us toward Mount St. Helens, located in the state of Washington, USA, near the blast zone. Decades after the total devastation of this area when Mount St. Helens erupted, we found it refreshing to see so much green. On all sides of the curving road, evergreens were young and abundant. Ahead were rolling hills, a hint of the mountainous area in which the world-famous volcano is located. America, the beautiful!
Along the entire right edge of the image, a large bush or tree is silhouetted, providing a lovely frame for this scene. As far as I know, this was captured on a portion of Spirit Memorial Highway, Highway 504. Photographed in 2012; remastered in 2019 and 2023.
