Lovett Hall is the main entrance to the Rice University campus in Houston, Texas designed with a Byzantine architectural style. This scene is seen on the South Main Street entrance to the magnificent campus. This is a "classic" photograph on the Rice Campus.
Situated on nearly 300 acres in the heart of Houston's Museum District and across the street from the city's Hermann Park, Rice is a green and leafy refuge – an oasis of learning convenient to the amenities of the nation's fourth-largest city.
Opened in 1912 after the murder of its namesake William Marsh Rice, Rice is now a research university with an undergraduate focus. Its emphasis on education is demonstrated by a small student body and 6:1 student-faculty ratio, and it has been nationally recognized as a leading university for undergraduate teaching.
