Resting in the dappled shade in South Africa, but alert, this is a rescue kitty. The cheetah is the fastest of all land animals, and a member of the family Felidae. This large cat, native to Africa and central Iran, can run at 80 to 128 km/h (50 to 80 mph) due to its light build, long thin legs and long tail. The head is small, rounded, and has a short nose or snout and black facial streaks like teardrop stains The coat is tawny or creamy white or pale buff or beige with evenly spaced, solid black spots.
