Description
This is one of the now-abandoned homesteads that can be found in Ramsey Canyon, a popular tourist destination just outside of Sierra Vista in the Huachuca Mountains of Southeastern Arizona. It's a large structure, just over a hundred years old, and probably a beautiful home in it's heyday, being situated on a hillside where the grassy meadow meets the edge of an oak forest. Most of the paint has peeled off the sun-dried hand-hewn boards, and some angles are not as straight as they used to be. It's still an imposing structure, a testament to the character and resolve of those who homesteaded this region back when the West was young.

The Huachuca Mountains are beautiful, Al....my folks owned a home in Ash Canyon for over 30 years until the June 2011 Monument Fire completely destroyed it. My brother has hiked all over the mountains and to Miller Peak several times. Nice to discover a Sierra Vistan! FAV / LIKE
