Description
Rainbow trout fish have beautiful coloring by nature. Colors and patterns vary based on environment, age, and spawning conditions and more. Colors on the back of a trout can range from brown, to olive, to dark blue. Rainbow trout are coldwater fish that have long been symbolic of clear, healthy mountain streams and lakes in North America.
They are prized for their ability to fight harder than most trout species. The rainbows jump more frequently than most other trout, and maneuver with ease in the swift water. They live an average of 4 to 6 years in the wild. Rainbow trout habiting in streams often feed heavily onl insects, such as grasshoppers and ants, that fall into the stream. Rocky stream riffles produce bottom-dwelling aquatic invertebrates, such as
insects and crustaceans, that are also fed upon. In lakes and streams, invertebrates such as plankton, crustaceans, snails, and leeches, as well as small fish and fish eggs also serve as food for trout. Rainbow Trout - Oncorhynchus mykiss are in the salmon family. This artwork is a digital rendered painting using my photograph.
