Description
Alyogyne huegelii is a flowering plant found in the Southwest botanical province of Western Australia, extending along its entire coastline. Also known as Native Hibiscus
A large flowered shrub, the species favours the sands of coastal shrub-lands and heath. Shrub to four metres with many alternate branches, although lower ones may be sparse. Bright green leaves are divided in three to five in outline; margins are irregular, lobate to toothed; pubescent and strongly veined lobes are coarse in shape. The flower stalk at the leaf axil is long, tilting at the single flower.
The flowers have five luminous petals up to 70 mm long, these are overlapping and have slight ridges. The colour is cream or mauve, or lilac.
Also planted on verges and gardens, this is a vigorous grower.

Beautiful! I love the softness of the allyogne, such a strange name to pronounce I find. l/f We endured the 2nd wild storm today, roaring and taring all the petals of mine and blossoms. It has They have brought lots of trees down everywhere in the suburbs and I was fearful of the giant next door.
