Description
One of the prompts during inktober 2018 was precious and I can't think of a more precious animal than the manatee. This gentle creature pauses a moment to pose among the aquatic plants before continuing on to graze. Manatees here in the US are on the endangered species list due to a variety of threats. They spend most of their time slowly grazing on tropical plants along the coast and because of this they often get struck by power boats. This leaves them with scars, serious injuries and unfortunately death. It's heartbreaking to think about such a sweet gentle creature coming to harm. Hopefully this will not continue forever, for now enjoy my precious friend here floating in a world without these threats. Pen and ink drawing with digital color.
