Description
These strange grapes are calle Moon Droop Grapes. They have been cultivated specifically to have their long, oblong shape and although unusual looking, are quite sweet. When I first saw them I thought they must be genetically modified; however, according to the original grower in Southern California they are non-GMO and have simply been hybridized after years of selective breeding and experimentation - just like Mendel's peas. This grower has also developed unusual flavored grapes like cotton candy and gum drops. Those different flavored grapes have yet to make it to the Big Island.
