On my first afternoon in Dealth Valley National Park, my plan was to walk out onto the Mesquite Sand Dunes. The winds were very strong but I naively figured I was just as strong! I hadn’t counted on the extra effort of slogging through the sand. Not to mention the mental anguish of seeing fine sand all over my cameras despite my best efforts to protect them. Eventually, I just sank to my knees, found a pleasing composition, shot some photos, and admitted defeat against the wind. It took hours to clean my cameras and a full day for the sand to finally work its way out of my eyes.
