Title
Mantel Flowers
Artist
Ken Powers
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
These flowers were sitting on my Father-In-Laws mantle and I couldn't resist painting them. I have no idea what type they are as they are artificial but I really liked them. I tried to make the shadowing appear as if it were created by late afternoon sun shining through the window. The piece is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper.

This is a really beautiful watercolor Ken...I noticed that the lower part of the shadow looks like a buxom woman sitting on the mantle..or maybe it's only my overactive imagination

I love the simplicity of this painting - especially the warm & home feeling it has. And the cast shadow is an event unto itself! Thanks for your comments on my abstract. It is indeed out of character for me, but sometimes it's just fun to play. I guess it was the perfect way for me to express my feelings at the time. Been meaning to ask you, do your paintings of the firefighting helmets have any signifigance other than 9-11?
