El Matador State Beach, I love this beach, fun to go to, but you have to be very careful. Rocks, tides, and daylight are what make it exciting. Getting down to the beach ... I walked along the large rocks to the caves and entered one. I crawled to the back in a tiny space so I could include the full opening in my shot. ...after brushing away the spiders, setting up the tripod, I began shooting this beautiful blazing sunset. Not noticing that the tide as it started coming in faster until it reached my tripod.…. oh my...I was in trouble and knew that after gathering my gear and getting out I was going to be really really wet.
That was the good part.... outside the cave I had to hold everything tight over my head as the surf carried me in and out like a spinning ball. I got out laughing and managed to climb back up the bluffs in the dark. Now in the car, while cleaning the camera gear, I started laughing again.... thinking I’m not 75 I'm still 28 with 47 years of experience....Photography is FUN!!
