Description
I am always amazed by how large lobster traps are on on land! They are almost as tall as my husband! They look so pretty all newly pained waiting to be thrown out in Casco Bay to hopefully not be run over by a boat! Oi, how many times have my husband and I been out on the water in our sailboat and caught the damn lobster pot! Thankfully, we do have a really long hook to release the rope from our keel. Sometimes we just have to put the boat in reverse to release the rope. My dad taught me that one! But as a general rule, it's a good idea not to hook yourself on to the rope of the lobster pot.
Yarmouth as quite a few lobstermen that leave from Madeleine Point on Cousins Island in Yarmouth Maine. I think it's just fantastic that we have a working harbor intermixed with the fair weather boaters like ourselves. It instills a deep respect we should have for these men and women who work the water and have to go out in all types of weather and temperatures!
