Description
One of my favorite flowers for wall art AND greeting cards, lilac and purple roses are associated with love at first sight. I didn’t realize until I did some research that this particular rose is perfect for Valentines day as an alternative to the often utilized red.
Led me to wonder how many people even give flowers anymore, much less send a handwritten letter to a friend or loved one. Not long ago the Sunday morning television show I watch, carried a piece about an elementary school that had begun a pen-pal program for several upper grades. The teacher spoke of how excited the children grew when they knew that class time committed to “pen-pal mail” had come.
I keep a “stockpile” of cards set aside for not only special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and weddings, but also when I feel the urge to tell a friend or relative they were being thought of. I send “thank-you” notes to my doctors, the lawn guy, our favorite waitress… You get the idea. I feel when the note is sent with sincerity and honesty the rewards are innumerable. Especially that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you drop your note in that magical-blue box! More on that later…
