The original painting was commissioned by a gentleman from Florida. Initially he wished to purchase my original painting of two little girls at a country mailbox called GRANDMA'S LETTER; however the painting had been sold. When he told me about his granddaughter who grew up fascinated by their mailbox, I offered to paint her at their own mailbox. He sent me some photos of her with a stuffed animal and ponytails at about age 12 and some photos of their mailbox. I painted her quite a bit younger, changed the perspective of their mailbox and created this scene with back-lighting entirely from my imagination. The painting is a gift for their granddaughter who is graduating from university this year.
