Keeping Up with Mama Grizzly 399
One of the cubs, I believe the runt, seemed to stay by Mama Grizzly 399's side, while the other three trailed behind, stopping to cuff and play with each other. However, by the roadside, all four cubs did seem to stay closer to her side. I would love to know how they communicate with each other. There was one cub that seemed more independent, but I'm not even sure it was always the same cub. But I believe it was two days after this, I heard that one cub went missing for a night, but they were reunited the next day. I've heard that more recently that one cub again split off and went its own way, this time during the day, and she had to backtrack with the others to get the wayward cub. I wish I could watch them day in and day out to learn more about the family dynamics. But with four cubs, she has her paws full!
