Description
Photographic artwork by Cindy Treger. Photographed near Lake Meade, East Berlin, PA. This gorgeous juvenile Baltimore Oriole was singing its little heart out as it sit on the branch of a lilac bush. This is the first year that we had Baltimore Orioles and this is the first juvenile that I spotted. The juvenile looks just like the female, but this looks like a young bird to me.

Cindy, you capture the MOST AMAZING winged treasures! Another wonderful gift! Thank you. Have you ever seen a baby hummer? I saw one only once in my front porch pot of purple verbena...it looked like a bee with a LONG needle! A closer look revealed the long nose of a baby hummingbird flitting tiny wings about its teeny body! Alas...no camera at the ready!
Cindy Treger replied:
Laurel, thank you for the view and wonderful comment. No, I have never seen a baby hummer. If I could find a nest I would probably camp out under it just to get a look at a baby. Once they leave the nest they are the same size as an adult, but you can tell from their feathers that they are young.

William, thank you for the feature, wonderful comment and l/f. This is the first year that we ever had a pair of Baltimore Orioles, and this was the only sighting of their baby. So I guess I am pretty lucky.
