Description
In "Ride Him Cowboy" (1932) Duke was billed as "the screen's new star of the saddle."
Duke's female counterpart was Ruth Hall (1911-2003) who later was in the cast with him in 1933's Mascot serial "The Three Musketeers."
When the serial was made President Roosevelt "closed all the banks. We had no money to pay for anything! Yet we kept right on shooting."
"John Wayne was my favorite western leading man. He was so pleasant to work with. He was wonderful!" Ruth Hall
In 1933 Hall married cinematographer Lee Garmes who lensed David O. Selznick's "Gone With the Wind" and "Duel in the Sun."
