Description
I was taking photos in the fishing port of Galilee, Rhode Island when this Herring Gull landed 5 feet from me. He just perched right in front of me as if to say, "Take my picture." He stayed there while I took 10 shots, only moving his head occasionally from side to side. His feathers were of the purist, downy-white I'd ever seen on a gull. He certainly deserved to have his photograph taken and I obliged.

Thank you, once again, Kay. I can always count on you to 'get it,' especially with the word-play I enjoy using. Thanks for putting a smile on my face in reminiscing! Peace, Max

Thank you, David. I could have snapped off dozens and dozens of pics, he, or she, was so patient. Totally unlike most gulls who always are on the hunt. That was one of the inspiration for this title.

I recall when that book came out :) Great seagull expression in a portrait! V/ Pamela
Rick Maxwell replied:
I remember when it came out as well. It was one of the books I chose to read as a summer requirement. Nice story and it came rushing back to me as soon as I reviewed the shots I'd taken that day. J. did look as though he'd become worldly. He was quite magnificent. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Cheers, Max

Fabulous capture of this seagull, a perfect portrait! L/F
Rick Maxwell replied:
He, or She, really was a perfect subject for His, or Her, portrait. After taking quite a few photos of Him, or Her, He, or She, was still perched perfectly on the dock pylon when I had to regrettably leave. But thank you, Malanda for your response. It means a lot to me. Cheers, Max
