Description
Indian Blanket the Oklahoma State Wildflower - Painterly by Debra Martz The Indian Blanket, (Gaillardia pulchella,) was adopted May 7, 1986 as Oklahoma's State Wildflower and is also known as the firewheel. The red flower with yellow tips is a symbol of Oklahoma's scenic beauty as well as the state's Indian heritage. They bloom along Oklahoma's roadsides from May to August but if you plant and maintain them, they can bloom all the way to the first frost. The pattern in the background comes from a chain-link fence. Digital Art Photography created from my Original Photograph by using several layers of textures and and a variety of digital brushes.
