Description

One of the very cool things about digital photography is how relatively easy it is to take a straight photographic image and turn it into something a little wild and crazy... This started out as a photograph that I took on a sunny afternoon, with sunlight coming through the window and shining through a little decorative amber glass globe sitting on the mantel. The colors and textures of the globe were projected onto the wall quite distinctly. The basic image is kind of cool, but when I looked at it, I immediately began getting ideas. So....
I started experimenting; and as I began to come up with different effects, a fanciful idea took hold and I thought to myself that the color and light, with a little enhancement (actually, a lot of enhancement!) sort of brought to mind my vision of boundless, raw primordial energy, at the very beginning of everything.... matter coming together, first forming planets, burning, glowing, still in flux.... Kind of over the top, I guess, but that's where the title comes from. Seems to fit, for me. You may see something entirely different. But that's part of the fun when you start abstracting realistic images.... No matter what you see, In the Beginning would be an arresting piece on your wall, or would make a noteworthy accent as a soft fleece blanket or throw pillow. Check out all the possibilities....
