On the day we were scheduled to make the 6 hr drive from Myvatn in northern Iceland to Reykjavik, we awoke to howling winds. The weather report said the wind velocity was 27-30 m/sec, which doesn’t sound too bad unless you make the conversion to mph, in which case, it is between 60-70 mph!! There was a nationwide stay-in-place advisory so we were stuck in the hotel trying to figure out things to take photos of while we were shielded from the wind. We discovered one patio where we had a nice view of the sunrise just beginning to light the local landscape with the mountains in the distance.
