The River Oaks Theatre is a historic movie theater in Houston, Texas built in 1939 in the Art Deco style. It sits on valuable property in the famously wealthy River Oaks area of Houston and there is an active movement to preserve the theatre. The theatre is still in operation but this image shows the attendance low on a Saturday night.
River Oaks is a residential community located in the center of Houston, Texas, United States. Located within the 610 Loop and between Downtown and Uptown, the community spans 1,100 acres (450 ha). Established in the 1920s by brothers William and Michael Hogg, the community became a well-publicized national model for community planning. Real estate values in the community range from $1 million to over $20 million (in 2007). River Oaks was also named the most expensive neighborhood in Houston in 2013.
