Horseshoe Bend near Page Arizona is one of the most recognized and visited places in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and it is easy to see why. Itis a horseshoe-shaped section of the Colorado River that has cut its bed down into the bedrock producing a spectacular geologic marvel. The overlook of Horseshoe Bend is about 1000 feet (330 meters) above the river level. Horseshoe Bend has become quite a social media darling in recent years, with many making the short hike to the overlook to watch the sun set behind this scene. But early morning is equally beautiful and less crowded!
