Description
Autumn's golden hue is contrasted against a deep blue-gray sky. Hay bales, a celebration of summer’s hard work, are a harbinger of the winter to come.
This is the time, for those people who own animals, to bring in the fodder for the upcoming cold months, when the animals on the farm cannot find enough grass to forage.
For us on our small farm, it is a constant challenge to find alfalfa for our goats, hay that is not grown with genetically modified seed stock. Although we have, for years, reviewed our own food carefully for GMO ingredients, it is not until recently that we thought of the feed we were giving the animals that give us the milk we drink.
A chance finding on Craig’s list led us to a nearby farmer who grows his hay, and fruit, organically, and in late summer, the larder for the goats is filled with enough hay bales to keep them satisfied and happy through the bleak months when the grass is sparse.
Such is the cycle of the seasons, and one sees the changes best in a country environment, where the grass emerges from the barren ground in the spring, and through the ensuing months, turns into a golden hue leading to the outrageous colors of autumn. The artwork, Homeland 3, invites the viewer to step into this world of the vibrant country seasons, and to breathe in the warm, almost sultry air of summer and simply listen to the silence.
As the sun progresses on its way to the west and the shadows grow, the air will turn cooler, and we are reminded that summer is rapidly coming to its end, with the crisp bite of autumn air alerting us to the change that is gradually happening.
Step into the world of silence, peace, and tranquility, by entering into the world of Homeland 3.

those goats must be sacred! i mean - living in heaven, surrounded by guardian angels who also describe that heaven so beautifully with brush+pen!... ;-}
Steve Henderson replied:
I really appreciate your thoughts and observations, Drasko. Right now I think the goats are wondering what type of paradise they are in as snow, rain and ice are currently messing up their routine in a big way.
