Chrisann, I saw this before and didn't have a chance to comment. I want you to know this is truly outstanding! The way you have run interest through the colors of the shirt with swirls and smudges is magnificent but her face is captivating (even for me and I'm not a guy). There's mystery and romance behind her pouty expression and she seems to be on the precipice of womanhood to where she's testing her ability to stop some guy with an expression. And, I LOVE the eyes because I've used that same expression. It means "watch it, because I mean what I'm saying". She's learned her power and you have expressed it all in a single portrait. Bravo! F/V.

It's as though I can see her soul and she can see mine; the pain is deep but usually hidden by a facade of smiles...this one speaks volumes.

longer than others. Humble Angel took 3 months, due to many breaks of working on other projects during it's development. --Just to painful to do all at once. Hugs...
Chrisann Ellis replied:
Lisa, I understand and I do the same thing. I am working on the next painting of what lies ahead, and I look forward to seeing what you think. Thank you again! happy painting :)

Oh, I assumed it was the face of your grieving child over losing her dad. You did catch so much emotion in the work. I am somewhat inspired to paint my kids faces in their sadness... I just think it may be too painful, still. Some of my works took longer than usual bc I needed breaks in btwn them... just too emotional. (like Humble Angel) it took me 3 months to do it. Paint layers needed to dry, yes... but, it was more about taking breaks and working on other paintings during it's development.
Chrisann Ellis replied:
Lisa, I paint the same way and I put it aside till I am ready to continue. I am so happy to read your comments and a friendship has begun. You Inspire me and many others... thank you again :)

I am so sorry for your families loss. Bless her.. so sad. Time does not heal, but active grieving does. Warmest wishes to you and your family. You did a wonderful job capturing the emotion in this one.
Chrisann Ellis replied:
Lisa, Thank you for the feature on the home page. You made my day. I saw a photograph in the National G. Magiz. And I had to paint her, this portrait wasn't a loss with my family, the other one was... but she had so much pain, that I could relate to loss, thats why I wanted to paint her. Thank you again :)
