Title
Heat In The Afternoon
Artist
Lynda Lehmann
Medium
Painting - Watercolor
Description
A row house in Pennsylvania had the shades drawn against the glare of a hot summer afternoon. It looked somewhat lurid to me, and I imagined something illicit going on inside. I painted this from a b&w photo, but the heat of the afternoon and the way things were all closed up, suggested these colors to me. Watercolor on Arches paper.

Color scheme is perfect and that's what you do in the heat of the afternoon. Close the shades, well done.

Thanks so much, Lenore! It's watercolor, painted from a B & W photo that inspired it. No such colors in the "real thing!"

How fantastic! This appeals to my love of geometry in art, with great color combinations, etc. I thought in the thumbnail it was a photo! I love this!!! v/f

Thanks Lenore! I love the geometry of architecture, or the lack thereof, as the case may be!

Great, great image, Lynda!!! I love the lines and angles. When I was little, a long, long, looong time ago, pre-air conditioning, we'd do the same. Depending on time of day, the shades would go down on one side of the house, while remaining open on the other ... the huge window-set exhaust fans blowing like small airplane engines 24 hours a day. Your image has that feeling ... thank you for the memory!!!! f/v
