Description
A large Amish Farm sits on a hill in New Wilmington, PA with a horse grazing in the pasture on a hot sunny September day.
The Amish are a group of traditionalist Christian church fellowships with Swiss German Anabaptist origins. They are closely related to, but distinct from, Mennonite churches. The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology.
New Wilmington is a borough in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, United States, first platted in 1824 and established as a borough on April 9, 1863. The population was 2,466 at the 2010 census. It is home to Westminster College and serves the Old Order Amish community in the surrounding Wilmington Township.
