A cloudy April afternoon, with just a touch of sun breaking through the clouds here and there, seemed to make the springtime greens down in the Browntown Valley really pop. Gooney Run meanders through the valley on its way to the Shenandoah River. This image was captured from the Gooney Run Overlook on the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, about 7 miles from the north entrance at Front Royal, Virginia. Here, a pretty redbud tree shares the frame with the valley view below. Rolling clouds overhead add a touch of drama to the image.
