Description
The original image earned publication, in color, on a three by two foot poster, and a German magazine with a story, and a national USA newspaper story. A giraffe family in a visually captivating cluster. A chance encounter at the Brookfield Zoo, in Brookfield Illinois, led to this astounding scene. Three of the giraffes, with eye contact, made this image exciting. A baby giraffe is almost invisible as it is surrounded by the others. The giraffe is the tallest living four footed animal. Original scene photographed on 35mm, horizontal frame, Kodachrome daylight slide film. Scanned and cropped to vertical composition within the original horizontal frame. Original zoo scene had a concrete wall background of zoo confinement. Adobe Photoshop Elements took the giraffe composition out of the zoo into the mountain and sky scene as it is depicted here. Thank you Sarah for the compliment, this was a 35mm film image, so I was not sure I had it until the film was processed. I had 3 frames in rapid succession and all 3 were different! This was the only frame with the heads clearly defined. Thank you, Raymond

Thank you, I hope they don't get tangled myself. This was the best of 3 images in rapid succession. Only this one was the best, where they were separated properly. I posted a press release about it, a few days ago, which explains more about it.

Thank you Kevin, It all happened very quickly, 3 exposures in sequence, and only this one was outstanding. Their heads were wobbling all over and gazing in different directions. Only this frame was useable. After the sequence, one of them got up and walked in another direction. I had to wait over the weekend to have the film processed. I wasn't sure what I had captured. Thanks again. Ray
