Description
Fort Worth's iconic Flatiron Building, inspired by Manhattan's famous triangular structure, opened in 1907 as Cowtown's first steel-frame structure and the tallest building in north Texas. Fort Worth physician, Dr. Bacon Saunders, commissioned the structure, locating his office on the top floor. Fort Worth's namesake, William Jenkins Worth, is buried at the base of Manhattan's Flatiron Building. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
