Bugs Bugs and more Bugs
This species of flower longhorned beetle is found only in Florida, usually seen on flowers feeding on pollen.
All members of this genus have the distinctive slender-bodied appearance. Adults of Strangalia strigosa are on the wing from April through July.
This species feeds on flowers of buckthorns, redbay, fleabane, holly and other plants such as prickypear cactus as seen here.
Since this species does not appear to have a separate common name and it is either the only or one of the few flower longhorned beetles endemic to the state, I think it should be called the Florida longhorned beetle.
