Three Cedar Waxwings forage for food and drink at drainage pipes in a gutter. The center bird is flanked by his two buddies who really did not to pose for this shot.

December in Southern California, 2014 is attracting a host of wintering birds, due in part, to our warm weather we have had. The Cedar Waxwing is a sleek, crested, brown bird, larger than a house sparrow. The Waxwing has yellow on the belly, white undertail, and a bright yellow band at the base of the tail. Their habitat is open woodlands, fruiting trees, and orchards. They fly and feed in compact flocks.
