This artistic image is based on a 2013 color photograph of Festival Hill, located in Round Top, the smallest town in Texas. Founded and established by renowned pianist James Dick in 1971, Festival Hill is a widely acclaimed international musical institute. Here one can enjoy top-notch performing arts, special events, advanced training, venues, festivals, personal and corporate retreats, workshops, and more.

I have been privileged to be on James Dick’s Festival Hill mailing list since the earliest days of the institute, but I’m overdue for a catch-up trip to see all that has been added since my last visit for a concert. Some small historic buildings have been added, I'm told, along with a lovely garden.

This image, based on a 2013 photo and given a painterly touch in 2019, shows the main building in an offset side view. Topped by a pretty pergola and metal roof, featured here, this structure houses (by all reports) the magnificently updated concert hall.

Round Top, Texas, is located where the Prairies and Lakes area of Texas (inland from the Gulf Coast) meets the Texas Hill Country, about one hour from Austin. If you’re in the area, enjoy the quirky and wonderful Round Top Café, on the square in the tiny town of Round Top (population 90). You might top off your fabulous meal and dessert (pie!) at the café with a tour and more ice cream at the Blue Bell Creamery in nearby Brenham.
