Description
Here the Monarch resides in a dream like state bringing us joy where ever it flies. The monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is a milkweed butterfly (subfamily Danainae), in the family Nymphalidae. It is perhaps the best known of all North American butterflies. Its wings feature an easily recognizable orange and black pattern, with a wingspan of 8.9-10.2 cm. The monarch is famous for its southward migration and northward return in summer from Canada to Mexico and Baja California which spans the life of three to four generations of the butterfly.

Wonderful title for a gorgeous work. The colors are stunning. A favorite of mine today for sure!
Jeff Folger replied:
Thanks Meghan, I always love photographing whenever the butterflies start showing up in New England. To me they are little dreams floating on the breeze.

It's hard to think of them as being alive, they are are so small and yet provide such a big joy to us.

They surely make an amazing journey for such a fragile creature...I was so amazed the first time I learned that bit about their migration! This is beautiful! voted
