This is a study for a painting in the "Dragonsailor" series. These "Dragonsailor" paintings depict a man who is either in the process of dissolving into the chemical bath of fire and water from which he came or in the process of being generated from and within it. I am fascinated by our origin out of the hydrothermal vents in the ocean's depths ... the fact that we are resultant from the competing forces of water and fire in underwater volcanoes.
